A Collection of Stories
People disappear. Reality fragments. Houses burn and the streets flood. All while people live their lives as normal.
In Everything Is Fine, a man hosts a dinner party, locking his friends inside. An entire neighborhood is burnt down by one of their own residents. Another burnt down home is reconstructed with love. A man finds comfort in a department store.
Unsettling, yet deeply human, Everything Is Fine exists as stories for the hopeless. Reassurances that no one is alone in this world, even if it may feel like it sometimes.
"Everything is fine—read this if you've said that before."
Point of View
When I hosted that dinner party, I didn't know everyone would die. I didn't know I would die. The idea popped in my head earlier this week over breakfast. As silence entrapped me I felt like I needed a change, a reinvention of myself. A new beginning - that’s the phrase I coined for it. For my sake, I felt like this needed to be celebrated. Over the past few years, I made so much headway isolating myself. My friend count is down to zero if I think about it. I don't really leave my house much, only for remedial things. Groceries, takeout, an occasional trip to Dunkin’. When I had the idea of this new beginning, I knew it had to be done differently. I couldn't just wake up and think Alright, I’m a new person. No, I had to mark this and there had to be witnesses. That's when I started to plan. Again, never did I think anyone would die.
